Emergency room, swingbed & long-term care rooms now open

Northwood Deaconess Health Center opened its new emergency room & hospital Monday, Dec. 29. The new emergency entrance is located just west of the main entrance to the hospital. Signage is available to help guide patients.
This new space features an enclosed drop off, currently available for ambulance traffic but in the coming weeks will be open for private vehicle drop off as well.
In addition to opening the new emergency room, patients and residents were moved into their new rooms on Tuesday, Dec. 30. Family and friends visiting a loved one at NDHC should use the main/clinic entrance and, once inside, follow signs to the new care center.
“We are thrilled to introduce this new healthcare experience and believe our patients and residents will immediately benefit from the state-of- the-art treatment areas and warm, inviting spaces,” said CEO Brock Sherva.
This move is the culmination of phase one of a two-part project and features
a new enclosed, drive-through emergency drop off
two state-of-the art emergency rooms
25 rooms, each with a private bath and large window for natural light
16 designated long-term care rooms
9 hospital/swingbed rooms
Communal dining/multi-purpose room with floor-to-ceiling windows
Two activity spaces located within the long-term care wing
A new CT scanner, also added in the first phase of NDHC’s expansion project, went online Dec. 16, now offering enhanced radiology services in Northwood.
Work immediately moves into phase two of NDHC’s two-part project, which will include renovation of the current hospital nurses’ station to become the pharmacy, and renovation of interior spaces to add a dedicated pediatric therapy gym, as well three additional therapy treatment rooms, and completion of the special procedures suite to include an operating room.
The full project will be completed by July 2026.
