Northwood Deaconess Health Center (NDHC) is hosting a community open house and tours of its newly completed building expansion from 4:30 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10.

“We are excited to welcome the community into this transformational space,” said NDHC CEO Brock Sherva, “and extend an invitation to tour this new wing of our healthcare center.”

Construction of 25 new long-term care resident and hospital rooms along with community gathering areas, a new emergency room, and general operating room has been underway since May 2024. This first phase of a two-part project also includes remodeling in the existing footprint to add a CT scanning room and ultrasound room.

Work will continue on phase two, renovating interior space for hospital pharmacy and therapy services with completion expected by July.

“The community has been tremendously supportive of this project and patient during construction disruptions along the way. We are excited to showcase this investment that is transforming rural healthcare in our region.  l am thrilled we could open it in time to celebrate the holidays,” said Sherva.

NDHC expects to open the emergency room and transition its in-patient and long-term care residents to the new space on Sunday, Dec. 14.
