August 28th update: We are pleased to have just received our facility’s COVID testing results from Monday, August 24th. Click here for more on this update.

October 12th update: The results from the October 7 testing are complete.  Northwood Deaconess had one employee test positive.  The employee has been quarantined and contact tracing procedures were followed.

October 19th update: The results of our most recent COVID-19 testing on Friday, October 16 are in.  We had 5 employees test positive.  They are all quarantined and appropriate contact tracing has been done.  We are thankful no residents, patients, or tenants are positive.  Our next testing day is Wednesday, October 21.

October 22nd update: Throughout COVID-19, the state of North Dakota has driven visitation policy in nursing homes in the state.  Recently that policy came into conflict with federal guidelines issued by CMS.    Effectively immediately, the federal guidelines will now guide all visitation.

If a facility has any positive cases in the last 14 days, there will no longer be any indoor visitation allowed with just a few exceptions that I will explain shortly.   In our last testing event, we did have positive cases.  Therefore, we regret to inform you that there will be no more inside visitation unless the resident is on end of life care or meets the criteria for a compassionate care visit.

The attached form is what drives our decision making and is directly from CMS.   For your information, Grand Forks County is in yellow and we follow the guidance in that block.   We of course wish there was more flexibility, however we must follow the direction given us. View attached form here:
